Flickr is running "your best 2013 shot" campaign, also via Twitter. So I posted one and received a handful of visitors and several "favorites". Naturally went to see who these people were. And found gorgeous account of a cos-play held in Netherlands last weekend. Photographer is a great master and people's faces are awesome. They look like if they stepped down from the classic paintings.
Here it is:
Then while looking through the pictures and wondering what the place is, I discovered their local football team: Kozakken Boys. Apparently Dutch were so much impressed by Russian Cossacks that liberated them from much hated French in 1813 that they decided to dedicate their football team to liberators.

While browsing the flickr Sosser FIFA ... group noticed that vast majority of people faces (profiles) on the photos are turned right - from the photographer. That is on the photo they look to the right. Did not count them though, but "right" heads are much more multiple than the "left".

Must have something to do with perception ... O I have to finish the Arnheim's book. And find an intelligent way to gather proper profile statistics from flickr.

My Rows appears on the second page of the interestingness for April 6th.
It's #17.

Vanity is the name of this game. Oh, shame! :)

So this is how it works. Now when I found it on the second Interestingness page (and not of the most recent day, mind you) it suddenly scores 200 views (and counting), 4 favorites and the set it belongs to has received 20 views.

All I did to "promote" it was posting to the "Hit, Miss or Maybe" group for half day. And I did not get too many Hits, by the way.

I just wonder if I myself will finally learn the lesson from this little experiment.

Yesterday I posted this Red Panda to my flickr stream.

And added it to several related pools (Animals, All Animals, My Jerusalem (it leaves there!), animal Planet and Endangered Spices, well Female Photographers too). By the end of the day it scored 14 hits and 1 favorite. Not bad thought I.

Then this morning I decided to join "Hit, Miss or Maybe" and guess what happened - in just 10 minutes it got another 14 hits. Yeahh...

And right now it has 31 hits. I think I'll wait and see if it gets 50 all alone now before posting it to "1-2-3"-like places.

Update 13-06-2006 20:14.

1 favorite (from yesterday though).
5 Hits from "Hit, Miss or Maybe", then 7/10, 6/10, 6/10, 5/10, 7/10 from "Score Me!".

Well, looks like all you need to get 50+ hits fast is to post it to a couple of groups like "Score Me!" and "Hit, Miss or Maybe". That simple. And if the first one is more or less usefull as people do tend to write their impression the second one is total garbage. I'm not interested in getting comments and "scores" from the people that take this kind of pictures.

I guess the experiment is over and I'll rather look for the groups where Rainer and my other contacts post :).
