TED numbers
Sep. 15th, 2011 09:03 pmIf what happens in TED can anyhow reflect contribution made by the speakers to the state of thought, art and technology, it would be interesting to take a look at the speakers list.
Over the course of 27 years (1984-2011) they had
860 speakers from different countries and fields of Art, Technology and Design.
11 of them were from muslim origin or muslim countries. Yemen, Pakistan, Turkey, Somali and Dubai. Some moved to Western countries long ago.
They talked about islam and tolerance and democracy and forgiveness.
Among them women doctors and journalists and two comedians that created one islamic-themed show.
There was no single person famous for his contribution to art or technology or design. Well, unless you consider any social activity an act of designing the community - rather wide meaning.
So much to Dreamwidth editor insisting I write "muslim" and "islamic" with capital leading letters.
